New MKIII firmware?

Another update from Rob Galbraith about the next rumored fix for the Canon EOS 1D-MkIII. Apparently some pro tennis shooters were experiencing focus issues at the Australian Open last month and Canon Japan dispatched two engineers from Tokyo to observe. Rumor has it they’ve gotten closer to finding the root cause of the autofocus issue and might be releasing a new firmware fix at some point to remedy any remaining focus issues.

Personally, my camera has been trouble free since they sent it back although I’m still curious to see how it performs in the summer heat. A firmware fix would be a great deal easier for a lot of folks including myself, who really don’t feel like shipping their cameras back to Canon AGAIN. So I’ve got my fingers crossed.
