Adobe pulled a fast one (at least on me), getting their second version of Lightroom out the door pretty quickly. I certainly didn’t think it would be released this soon, but here it is already – before August!

I *just* downloaded and installed my upgrade version for $99, and I’m playing around with the new Graduated Filter in the Develop module… pretty slick. Just at first glance, there’s a laundry list of new features and functionality that I can’t wait to dive into. I absolutely loved the first version of Lightroom, and this new release feels far more intuitive… while containing a slew of updated tools to help you keyword, organize, edit and output your photos.
Top new features:
Local adjustment brush
Enhanced organizational tools
Volume management
Extensible architecture
Multiple monitor support
Flexible print package functionality
Streamlined Photoshop CS3 integration
Enhanced output sharpening
64-bit support for Windows® and Mac OS
Read all about the new features at Adobe’s website, and PhotoshopNews has a write up about the release also. Speed will be one of the things I’m looking to criticize Lightroom 2 on. The beta version dragged ass on me – and the jury’s still out on v2. Time will tell, but it looks promising so far.
