Announcement coming on Dec 12th about a second generation of Radiopoppers. This new version is going to “blow away” the old ones, and will be able to integrate your studio strobes and non ETTL flashes for use in the same shot.

Other improvements:

  • Elimination of the fiber optic tube and tape on the receiver as the units are now small enough to attach directly over the sensor on your flash
  • Easy battery access (yes, with your fingers – no tools required)
  • Longer Range
  • A ‘scalable’ nature to the system
  • Ability to roll new features and compatibility into the existing product with a simple software update
  • Backwards compatibility

I can honestly say that I use my three P1′s almost every time I’ve got a situation that requires off camera speedlights – they’re indispensable. Awesome. Magic. If these guys are working on a new version, count me in.

Also interesting to note is the trade-in/trade-up credit they’re offering:

“Everyone since day one of P1 sales will be offered a substantial credit toward the purchase of the new re-designed unit for the return and credit of their current P1’s – an offer we think you’ll find quite fair.

Anyone who purchased P1 units since October 12, 2008 will simply have to pay the difference in cost between the new units and your purchase price of your P1 units to upgrade, and of course that offer extends forward until shortly after the release of the new units.”

NICE!
