Leda

Thanks to the generosity of Ted (Leda’s owner) and a co-worker, I was recently introduced to the sport of falconry – and Leda. She is a Harris’ Hawk, which are the only members of the genus Parabuteo and are well known for their "pack-hunting" behavior. I’ve only been out in the field a few times so far with her and Ted, and I can tell you that it is absolutely insane how fast this bird can move. Any small animals (especially cottontails) that cross her path don’t stand a chance. Expect to see many more shots of her (and possibly Melly-Mel’s Red Tail) in the near future.
